Portraits Artist London
I am a London based portrait artist, currently available for portrait commissions. My oil portraits and graphite drawings aspire to capture the individual’s energy and inner essence as well as their physical resemblance. Painted portraits are timeless and can add a distinct personal touch to any domestic atmosphere. Portraits can be manipulated to look realistic or more impressionistic with looser strokes. While I strive to be accurate in terms of physical appearance, I also like to explore the ever-changing possibilities in fine art and challenge the concept of correct representation of reality.
Commissioning a portrait is an easy and straight forward procedure. The portraits are created from one or several photographs but while a photo can display the likeness of somebody, only the artist can really convey the mood, personality and aura of the subject through the use of light, colour and focusing on specific traits. To commission a portrait, please send me a few photographs of the person or people you wish to be painted and tell me some details about their personalities.

Portraits Artist Commissions London
I create and design single person portraits, couples and groups of both adults and children. One of the many benefits of having a portrait made from a photograph is that the background can be in any setting preferred. The clinical setting of a first baby picture or a messy background of an otherwise beautiful photo of a family member can be swapped for neutral colours or a more attractive setting, with the colours negotiable to match the interiors of your home. An oil painting of your or a friend’s baby will capture the softness, colour and personal intimacy that is often forgone in an old photograph or a digital one. In addition, if requested, a still life sitting can be arranged for a once in a lifetime regal experience.
The portraits can differ in any size to match what you prefer. They can be framed or unframed to best compliment your walls. Each and every painting and graphite drawing is carefully produced to the highest craft and quality in my South East London studio. I work with acrylic, oil paint and chalk pencil graphite drawings to capture the essence of my subject in bright light and colour.
History of Portraits
The tradition of portraits artist painting dates back over 5,000 years and painted portraits have historically been commissioned to demonstrate the importance, virtue, wealth, power or beauty of the sitter. A painted portrait can be the perfect, most personal gift to celebrate a milestone in someone’s life, such as a wedding, retirement or a birthday. It can also be done to honour and commemorate a person important to you who has sadly passed away. Portrait paintings are the type of gifts that tend to be cherished and treasured in family homes for generations. I believe my unique modern style aims to make them timeless which in turn means they will never become ‘out of style’ or dated. If you are curious about having a portrait made, you can have a look at my earlier projects in order to familiarise yourself with my style. I am more than happy to chat about your expectations and preferences, without any obligation. Once a photograph and expectations are laid out I get to work immediately usually finishing the portraits in a couple of weeks.
